Art Blitz happened today. It was heralded as the biggest art event in Rochester. While I don’t think it was (I’ve never been to Artigras though) and certainly non-art events (Thursdays on First, Rochesterfest Parade, etc) dwarfed it, Art Blitz was kind of awesome.

It was certainly a big event though. Heck, it covered most of a city block. But what made Art Blits stand out for me was the energy. I saw so many people and types of people that I don’t usually see at the regular Rochester events. Art Blitz felt like more of a community too. Instead of milling around aimlessly for hours people actually stood and watched the music or play or the art that was going on before moving. It was really cool.

There were dozens of visual artists, musicians, and actors all doing their thing at the same time. The feeling was incredible. I’m really looking forward until next year.

It was DEFINITELY the BIGGEST art event in Rochester!
Artigras was about 15 craft booths with many artisans from surrounding towns. Thursdays on First is also more craft/retail-oriented of an event.
Art Blitz is the biggest pure, raw, contemporary, and progressive art event Rochester has ever seen.
    By a long shot!!!
I’m not offended but I just came across this and really needed to differentiate some things. 🙂
    Have a great day Will!

My apologize! Art Blitz 1 was incredible. I’m saddened I didn’t get to go to the 2nd annual event. You’re amazing Bobby.
